Experience

I have over 7 years of experience in tutoring and teaching. Since college, I have taught for well-known tutoring companies, and I have taught privately. I have the ability to teach in a group setting (up to 16 students) and one on one. I also have experience teaching with a wide age range (K-12th). My teaching methods are based upon each student's individual needs and abilities. I assess what their personality types are, how they learn, and what their interests are. I like to customize lessons to how a student can best understand the material. I do my best to improve my students' grades, as well as aid them in achieving two grades above the level of their peers. My writing skills are superior in that I have experience editing and formatting doctoral dissertations, strictly following APA or MLA style guides. This has been extremely helpful to all my students because I teach them all the basic to writing well. For high school, I have a strong success rate in molding and instructing strong public speakers. I have been apart of the Southern California Debate League, National Forensics League, and California High School Speech Association. I am knowledgeable in various forms of speech and debate. I also have a high success rate at tournaments. Besides my experience in K-8th and high school public speaking, I have experience in teaching students whose English is their second language. I have worked with a variety of students, some young and some older. The students I tutor in English are mostly high school level or higher. My teaching experience is diverse. I have also taught students with ADD and ADHD. For students in high school, I also provide college counseling services, where I work with students to gain admissions into the best schools possible. This involves writing college essays, filling out applications, interview assistance, financial aid inquiries, and discovering each child's interests and abilities. Although a student may not have the best grades or SAT scores, personal statements can make a difference. Other companies try to make promises that they cannot keep, but I'm realistic with my students, informing them of all higher education possibilities. Let me assist in making your student's dreams a reality. This can be done by package or hourly. Please contact for further details on this service. I enjoy being a tutor in order to help students who are disadvantaged and to help those who desire to achieve higher academic results. I believe that all students are capable of success, so long as they are given the right tools and assistance. I push, motivate, and encourage all my students to do their very best. Note: I am also willing to do group rates for those who have more than one child, or if you want to have tutoring with more than one student. Prices are negotiable depending on distance.
